Luganega, salamella, salamino or salametto. No, these are not the words of a magic formula, but the different names of a dish loved very much by everybody: sausage. A widespread sausage all over the world, it is made by filling a casing with minced meat mixed with tasty spices. There is no point in arguing on the paternity of this dish: from Milan to Rome, each region claims its paternity. But we are not interested in these diatribes, what matters to us is to discover four succulent ways to prepare it.
Grilled. With a light side dish or in a super sandwich
The best way to cook sausages is to organise a nice barbecue with friends. This is undoubtedly the easiest and quickest preparation, so much that the only precaution is to remember to pierce the sausage with a fork, so to facilitate the escape of excess fat.
If you don't have a barbecue, but a fireplace and some grills, it’ll do: the taste will be the same. And if you don't have a barbecue, a fireplace or a suitable space? Don't worry! An electric grill is the solution that’s right for you.
And then what? Choose whether to stay light or dare. In the first case you can pair the meat with a light salad, in the second you can enjoy the sausages in a sandwich with cheese, mayonnaise, mustard and ketchup.
Pan-fried with rosemary and breadcrumbs
When sausages meet the crunchiness of breadcrumbs and the strong flavour of rosemary, a quick recipe that will save many of your dinners is born. It is prepared in five minutes and in the following way:
1) take a bowl and mix breadcrumbs with rosemary; 2) cut the sausage in half, open it up and squash it slightly; 3) coat the sausage with the breadcrumbs and rosemary; 4) Finally, cook the meat on a low heat in a non-stick or stone frying pan without oil or other seasonings.
An extra tip? Stuff a piadina with this sausage! You'll see that you’ll be preparing another one in no time.

3) Stewed or paired with bean soup
Great on the grill, creative in the frying pan and fantastic in a stew. Well yes, sausage is also perfect when it is “escorted” by an excellent tomato sauce. Also in this case, the preparation is very fast: you just need to cook sausages with wine and water and add tomatoes and onion. Cooking time? About 30 minutes.
And that's not all: sausages can also be the key ingredient for a soup with broccolini and celeriac. zuppa con broccoletti e sedano rapa.
4) Baked with - of course - potatoes
If you are looking for a carefree recipe, even faster than the one in a frying pan, this is the preparation that’s right for you. All you need is an oven at 200°, a sheet of aluminium foil and 20 minutes of waiting time. Nothing else.
But if you want to make things a little more difficult, prepare some baked potatoes as a side dish too. patate al forno come contorno.
